A New Age has Begun

Demonic Resurrection, got an emotional connection with this band, they were the first ever indian metal band that i heard while beginning my sojourn to this colossal world of Metal. They are now relatively the veterans of indian metal scene, and with their brand of insane metal, termed aptly as "demonic metal" by Sahil Demonstealer Makhija, they have never disappointed with any of their records, and with their current offering, they have just stepped up a notch. The band has been undergoing constant line-up changes since last couple of years and have finally settled with a great group of musicians, highly proficient at wielding their respective gears. I must admit, i was really skeptical of Daniel, the first time i saw him play, and if my memory serves me right it was at resurrection VIII at that shitty Borivali venue, but how well has he come along, he has completely owned this record, and i can't forget people going ape shit over his soloing at Resurrection XI.
Getting down to the record itself, the box set itself is piece of art with a rich glossy touch to it and an equally brilliant art work done by Michal "Xaay" Loranc. This drooling factor on this record doesn't stop there, all the above-mentioned are just the peripherals to what the record actually contains and it is no less brilliant. The album opens with "Between infinity and oblivion"which has some excellent work by Mephisto on keys, it truly gives you the epic feel for something truly great is about to happen. "Where dreams and darkness unite" is one of my favorite tracks on the album, and it carries the mood perfectly with some kickass death growls by Sahil and Viru pounding away on drums with equivocal ferocity.

The most striking part of this record is the world class production that your ears are subjected to, the sound is extremely clear and profound. The unrenlenting surge of vengence is another of my favorite tracks, it gets extremely heavy with its sudden breaks and no sane person can stop himself from bobbing their heads up and down to this one.
It is very difficult to categorize this record into any specific genre, because you are having so much on your plate, there is kamelot styled power metal, then death/ thrash riffs, black metal styled blast beating. This is truly an epic, aptly demonstrated by "Lord of pestilence", with its beginning uncannily reminding me of Frozen Portrait, it goes on for a sheer length of eleven and half minutes but it never gives you a feeling that it is getting monotonous or just skip over to the next track, it is a masterclass composition, with its dynamic nature, it keeps you hooked on. Anyways being an avid listener of black metal, you somehow get used to such track lengths. "Omega, I" ends this masterpiece and a perfect ending at that.
A new warrior has risen from ashes to take over the fucking world, one festival at a time :) Inferno and Brutal Assault beckons DR, and no other Indian band could have been chosen to demonstrate the prosperity and musicianship of Indian Metal Scene (apart from Kryptos, of course) better than DR.
A must must listen for coming of age of Indian metal.

Bhayanak Maut Album Review

So, I finally get down to write the review for one of favorite “live performance” bands, a month after I got my hands on their latest album , and I haven’t been able to put it down since. It’s not just metalcore anymore, it’s a different Bhayanak maut here, the one who has broken out from being just another Lamb of god copy band, to one of the premiere acts of the country. The band employs the two vocalist concept for the first time on an album and if I am not wrong, it’s a first for any indian band., and how well it works !! total nonstop brutality/annihilation of the highest order.
The album itself is nothin short of brilliant, starting from the artwork to the innovativeness of the inlay to the sound, production, compositions, everything is just perfect. The album itself has been kept “nameless” to be interpreted by the masses.
Getting down to the album, the tracks are insanely heavy, and surprisingly groovy to be a bhayanak maut production, but I guess, evolution is the name of the game here, and it’s good.
The album beigns with a thunderous opening track “Habemus Papam”, with some insane drums handling by rahul, and furious vocal exchanges between vinay and sunny, it gets you into the groove with it’s sheer pace and energy.
GET PUMPED more is soon to follow.
The second track on this album is the ever so popular “Ranti Nasha” , BM have been playing this track for over a year now on the gigging scene, and is a sure to be a hit, with its heavy groove laden guitar work by venky & aditya.
C’mon let me see u shake ur tail feather’s
And just in case you thought you have heard the best of BM, WAIT, you got another thing coming.
With “Ungentle”, “The becoming”, “violate”, Bhayanak Maut are back with their gut wrenching breed of metalcore, and they keep you asking for more, rahul does some insane drumming and undoubtedly is the star of the album. And if you thought it’s all grim, “MNS Messenger” takes off with some popular marathi cussings, to just lighten up the atmosphere a lil bit J ofcourse all hell breaks loose after guitars kicks into action.
And, if again being a preassuming bastard that we are, we presume this is the pinnacle point of album and it surely can’t get any better, well you are in for another kick on the backside.
So u go into a deep dark realm with BM, with some awsome sounds, that will surely be used as intro track for fututre bhayanak maut’s performances, atleast I hope they do, jst like they did it at their album launch.
Track 11 ”you are perfect , now change” simply put is my fav track of the album, and if you can have last track of the album still in the race to be the best track on the album, then you kind of know, you got something special on your hand, and that is precisely what this is !!
Final verdict, 10/10 for the sheer brilliance of instruments handling, high on head banging and mosh quotient, this album is a must have, must listen, and more importantly must buy, totally worth it.
If this is what our indian metal scene is capable of pulling off, then u got to ask, Lamb Of God, who ?? :P

Ecstacy and agony !!!!

So, yesterday was a super tuesday for me, early morning with indian cricket team involved in crucial final down under and late night with AC milan involved in the knockout encounter with arsenal. I even missed my college to catch the CB series final !!!(didn't want to miss it for something as insipid as college :)), and it was totally worth it. A match worthy of being a final, with india winning in the last over, after james hopes gave all the hopes to the aussies for a miraculous win !!!
Half way around the world in the city of milan it was time for "now or never" for two teams, one with a wealth of experience in its ranks, and other with young blood running in its veins. The scene was set, the magnificent san siro was to witness the clash of two power-houses of european soccer and the match lived upto its expections. After scrappy inital minutes, milan grabbed the initiative and had gunners on the run with some wonderful and sublime play from kaka, but gunners came back at the end of first half to have some fluent passing play of their own. I have to admit i was quite impressed by adebayor, he is deceptively quick and agile on his feet. As the second half worn on, the game became more of a mid-field scuffle with either teams refusing to give an inch to the other team, and just when it seemed the half would end goalless, it occured, the event that every milanista was dreading from the start, fabregas scored from a long range scorcher. Milan now had to score two goals to win because
of the away goal rule, in trying to do so , they left the goal open, and gunners sealed their fate.
The defeat was not bad as such but the manner in which milan were beaten, they hardly created anything going forward, apart from some lethat forward surging runs by kaka and occasional flashes of brialliance from pato there wasn't much. Inzaghi and then gilardino both hardly got a touch on the ball. They were dominated in midfield for the most of the 90 minutes and you just started to wonder where the next goal was going to come from. So, the curse of "defending champs" struck again, milan were knocked out. Arsenal fully deservd their victory, well played to them, and milan get back to seria a next week with a sole aim, that is to qualify for the champions league next season, which i assume they would because if they don't, it would be a real shame.
Last night was also the last game in europe for a certain living and legend who goes by the name of "Paolo Maldini", the greatest servant of rosoneris, in this day and age where loyalty in football is unheard of with money ruling the roost, paolo has stayed on at milan denying many a lucrative offers to move aboard. He is the perfect man who can proudly say "been there done that", he has won every trophy in soccer apart from the world cup, which he narrowly missed at USA'94. Salute to one of the legends of the game

yet another struggle !!!

So we are nearing the end of yet another seria a season, and yet again the rosoneris find themselves mid table struggling for the champions league place next season, even though superpippo handed them a last gasp winner last night against palermo to move them to fourth place ahead of fiorentina on goal difference, there is no denying that the rosoneris have really struggled this season. They huffed and puffed there way to fourth place after christmas break, before which they were languishing in lower nooks of the table . The pato signing in the winter transfer window really came as a breath of fresh air to the milan campaign, after so much hype surrounding the 17 year old, the kid has really lived up to it, although he has a along way to go, before being counted in the top strikers of europe or even the world, but there is no denying the guy's talent (what is with these south american "child proteges" !!! they keep springing up!!!). As usual, milan have been going strong in the champions league, not withstanding a hard fought draw at emirates. For past couple of seasons milan has really become a "one cup team" of sorts, which is not such a good development for a club like milan, they really have to get their act together next season. Influx of someone like zambrottaa will ceratainly help milan in bolstering the aging defence, also most probably Borriello will be back next season, after his troubled time at milan, he has really come back strongly, being the second highest goal scorer in seria a for genoa. Every one will definietely be looking forward "ARSENAL vs AC MILAN PART2", and if the first leg was anything to go by , it will surely be a treat to watch, although going into the second leg milan will have the advantage, obviously of playing at home in the intimidating atmosphere of san siro and also because carlo ancelotti can rest his players because milan are playing for only one trophy this season, so just hoping everything turns out well for the rosoneris .
